Shane Filan has moved to England to begin work on his solo material.

The 32 year old Westlife frontman has relocated his wife Gilliant, and three children Shane, Patrick and Nicole from Sligo to Surry to avoid constant travel between Ireland and the UK. Shane has owned the property for three years but is hoping to make it the family’s permanent home.

A source told The Mirror “They adore Sligo and will always regard it as their home. But Shane has realised London is the best place to be for his solo career.

"Cobham is in the London commuter-belt. He has spent so much time on the road around the world with Westlife. He wants to spend more time with his family so he and Gillian decided the best thing for now would be to move to their home outside London.
“He can concentrate on his new career and not be away from his family so much.”

Shane will write and record his own songs in between rehearsals for Westlife’s massive fairwell tour which kicks off in the Spring. He’s the only band member who will continue to work with Louis Walsh, and the plan is to turn him into “the British Michael Buble” before the end of the year.

Louis said “Shane is going to be a big artist. I will only manage someone if I believe in them.”
