Katy Perry has been offered a place on the juding panel for X Factor USA.

According to The Sun, the ‘fireworks’ singer, who recently split from Russell Brand, has apparently been made a personal offer by Simon Cowell to join the revamped line-up later this year.

The move comes two days after Cowell revealed he couldn’t afford to pay for A Listers like Beyonce or Madonna.

Speaking of Katy, Simon said "I worked with Katy once. I think she would be fun because she is hard — in a good way — and she's feisty."

Simon also ruled out the possibility of Mariah Carey joining the show, admitting “I don't think Mariah would make that commitment. She's just had kids."

He also said he wouldn’t want Sir Elton John, adding “Absolutely not. He wouldn't do it and he'd be really difficult to work with."
